Mycelial Success: Retreat Recap, Happy Samhain/Día De Los Muertos, Diwali, Revolutions Are Made of Love and Memory Songs

Song of the Week

Listen to this song as you read to help open you up. My favorite rendition of La Llorona by Ángela Aguilar. I first heard this song at dusk on the Tamasopo River in Mexico, it was hauntingly beautiful.

El que no sabe de amores, Llorona

The one who does not know about love Llorona

No sabe lo que es martirio

Doesn't know about suffering

A very spooky bonfire photo after eating delicious stew with this year’s Myqueerium crew.

Updates!

The photos below say it all.

Reflections from participants that I carry in my heart:

  • “This is going to be a core memory.”

  • “Let’s all be friends forever.”

  • “This is so nourishing.“

  • “This is a combination of my main passions.”

It was such an honor to lead Myqueerium with the incredibly talented and kind Nell Pierce last Sunday. We will do it again next year! I’m protecting and revisiting the warm and earthy energy in my heart from the gathering of so many brilliant and kind souls all together in one incredible place. Happy Samhain, Día De Los Muertos, Diwali, and Day Light Savings Time. "May the nourishment of the earth be yours, may the clarity of light be yours, may the fluency of the ocean be yours, may the protection of the ancestors be yours". - Jonh O’Donohue

We found artist conks, oysters, resinous polypores, turkey tail, scarlet cups, robust brackets, lumpy bracket, lions mane, common stump bristlestem, violet toothed polypore, Phellenius Ignarius/hoof fungus, birch polypore, fomes fomentarus/tinder conk, crowded parchment, Schizophyllum commune/split gill, inky caps, and a bunch of LGBTQ folks wandering around the woods.

Nell Pierce held down the Q’llage, art, movement, journaling practices at Myqueerium AND looked like a really cute Amanita muscaria doing it.

Mushroom identification time post foray.

Trillium set up. I look forward to using this for more group meditations.

Carving some mushrooms, kind of fun, a little freaky, perfect for keeping the malicious or unwise spirits at bay.
