Updates!

I’m in Puerto Rico right now visiting family and friends so will keep this newsletter shorter.

This week am writing about living on a boundary because I am meeting more people who are telling me that they or their loved ones are leaving the house for the first time in months. I’ve been thinking about these people who are finally starting to leave their houses and it makes my heart ache. I was thinking about how this must feel for them, the mix of joy and grief. Are there any words to describe this kind of re-entry? Places who know war, must have terms. This re-entry into the world is about there being less risk, but still some risk so it’s not a finite thing that is over, but rather a continuous reassessment. The idea of living on a boundary resonated the most with me after talking with others about this. Look outside, evaluate, make the best choice possible in a ever-changing environment that is oscillating a lot between two major ecosystems— one where it makes the most sense to stay inside and one where it makes the most sense to spend more time outside the house. Nature knows boundaries well, and I included a photo from a lagoon with gorgeous ochre clay. I visited this place yesterday and I’m reminded that boundaries are all around us. Each one has a different specific lesson to teach us. The lagoon taught me about minerals, reflection, love, and cooperation.

My hope for you this week is that you look around you and see if you can find any boundaries in nature this week and keep orienting to what makes you feel safe, loved, and abundant.

Community Events

If your block hasn’t planned a block party yet, DO IT! It’s an important way to help people who haven’t left the house in a while meet their loving neighbors and for everyone to regroup and celebrate our accomplishments! I’m a big fan of celebrating as often as we can, when we can.

An friend I met at the Critical Mixed Race Studies Conference is leading a series of nine group sessions with access to a workbook she created for $700-$1,200. Her website is above.

Thanks for READING! Share my newsletter with a beloved if you think they might like it!
