Faithing Forward

Song of the Week

Listen to this song as you read to help open you up.

Updates!

Hello dear ones, I’ve been leaping, how about you? What keeps us from moving towards who we want to be? What we believe in? It’s often a fear of losing the safety and comfort we have. The unknown can be so scary, but that’s also where wisdom abounds. Who are you, when you are most afraid? Who are you, when you are most alive?

A belief without action…isn’t worth much is it? Yet why do we not taken action more often? We don’t leap because we often don’t have enough motivation to even take the first step. What often keeps us from having enough inertia to act is that we haven’t taken the time to imagine how good something could possibly be. The unknown outcompetes our ability to live into the edges of our dreams. We see all the negatives so easily, and often have neutralized or numbed out the parts of ourselves that needs to be activated to see possibilities, positive unknowns that can’t be known until the leap happens, the risks taken. Only then can we look back and say, “It’s not as bad as I thought it would be!”, “It’s far more wonderful than I ever could have imagined!”, or “Why didn’t I do that sooner?!” When we isolate our fears, and tease them apart from our goals/dreams/desires then we can start to figure out who we actually are and who we want to be. God it’s a wonderful thing to behold— someone becoming who they want to be, even in the wayward times, because at least the going is going somewhere worthwhile. The fear doesn’t go away, but it’s quieter and becomes less important. My hope for you this week is that you remember:

  • Being aware of your fears, without letting them control you is helpful.

  • No healing happens without exposure to the fire inside of you.

  • Faith is what happens when you believe in yourself and your values so strongly that your fears become right-sized, not obstacles that stop you in your tracks, more so challenges you can account for, tend to lovingly.
